The State Center complex is the largest concentration of State government offices in Maryland. Located in midtown Baltimore City, State Center comprises approximately twenty-eight acres around the State Center/Cultural Center Metro Station and across from the Cultural Center Light Rail Station.
State Center is now the focus of a cooperative effort between the State of Maryland and the City of Baltimore to revitalize the State’s office complex and the surrounding communities through extensive redevelopment and the application of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) principles. The ultimate goal of this effort is to connect and integrate the State’s office complex with the surrounding neighborhoods and in the process become one of the City’s most attractive arts, entertainment, retail and residential districts.
Charged with implementing this goal in conjunction with the State is the private development team consisting of Struever Bros. Ecccles & Rouse (SBER), Doracon Development, and McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc. (MBS). This team was unanimously selected by an evaluation panel consisting of neighborhood representatives, local institutional stakeholders, state & city agencies and elected officials.
